Comet, a 22-year-old Quarter Horse, joined our team in 2023 and has proven to be an exceptional and dependable nurse mare. Despite her smaller size, this mighty little mare has raised four orphan foals, including two back-to-back in a single season. What she lacks in height, she more than makes up for in heart—and in milk. Comet produces enough to feed a whole herd, making her a true asset during busy foaling seasons.

Quiet, patient, and deeply maternal, Comet comes alive the moment a foal is placed beside her. Although she can be a bit shy and standoffish with humans, her entire personality softens when she has a baby at her side. Her maternal instincts are truly impeccable.

Comet’s only real quirk is her dislike of getting her feet trimmed—a pet peeve we continue working through with patience and consistency. Even with this, she remains one of our sweetest and most devoted mares.
